CTI DEPLOYS WIRELESS CORE NETWORK FOR VIMPELCOM IN REGIONS
The network deployment in Russian regions is one more significant level of cooperation with VIMPELCOM: since 2011, CTI is extensively working on the construction and modernization of a universal platform for mobile packet core network supporting 2G, 3G and 4G access networks in different regions of the country.
Now, CTI has deployed SGSN (3G) nodes in St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk, and MME (4G) in Kaliningrad. This is only the first stage of this project, which then can continue in Rostov-on-Don and Yekaterinburg.
The Cisco products with ASR 5000platform are used as the core network nodes.A key feature of this solution is that it can support multiple hardware functions: a network node can efficiently perform different tasks depending on the program loaded. In combination with layered security mechanism ensuring reliability and excellent performance of subscriber capacity and energy consumption, Cisco ASR 5000 allows to combine both previously implemented GGSN (2G and 3G) and SGSN (2G and 3G), and then MME (4G) network elements on the same hardware platform.
The 4G network of VimpelCom built by CTI with Cisco solutions operates in Kaliningrad. 4G network launch in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg is scheduled for the near future.
«CTI consistently develops its business in the service industry participating in most advanced and technologically complex projects. 3G and 4G network launch in the Russian regions is a difficult and strategically important project, which allowed the company to gain invaluable experience,» says Oleg Schapov, CTI CEO.
«Theneedsand possibilities of our clients are constantly changing, so our goal is to deliver servicestoday thatwillbenecessaryfor them tomorrow.
CTI solution features versatility giving you an opportunity to improve the quality of current services, to accelerate implementation of newonesand to respond quickly to the needs of our clients,» says Ilya Axelrod, Director of Network Development at VimpelCom.
